Curriculum
This programme is designed in three phases to build personal and professional skills as you progress through your studies. Its flexible structure enables you to choose which areas of development fit your needs and aspirations, so you can create your own personal portfolio of your professional development.
The three modules are below:
BDK405: Aston Edge Futures
Critically reflect on current strengths and limitations as a potential leader of the future. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the importance of personal motivation and ambition to succeed with others while demonstrating personal excellence. Design a comprehensive and evidence-based personal career management plan.
BDK406: Aston Edge Reflections and Growth
Critically reflect on progress as a means of raising self-awareness and stimulating action as part of a continuous development process. Communicate effectively to a geographically diverse audience using digital media. Identify problems, challenges, and/or opportunities in their organisational or career context and design effective research-based approaches to investigate these and implement appropriate responses.
BDK407: Aston Edge Project
Undertake a comprehensive research project in relation to a specified organisational issue/challenge. Select and apply appropriate organizational, and managerial methods, theories, and frameworks in the completion of the research. Acquire and critically analyse appropriate data required to address the identified issue. Draw and present appropriate conclusions and recommendations in a form suitable to the context of the specific investigation.
MBA Curriculum - Core Modules
You can either choose to follow a given pathway or select one module from block 2, providing more flexibility to mix and match modules. Block 1 below features the core modules. Note that if you choose a pathway and a project in the same area this will be recorded in your final Programme of Study. You will study six core modules as listed below:
Measuring and Enhancing Financial Performance
The module aims to enable students to understand and interpret a range of financial statements and other financial information used by organisational stakeholders to aid decision making in relation to the allocation of capital.
Creating and Delivering Customer Value
The module aims to enable to develop the skills and competencies necessary to critically analyse organisational marketing options and to contribute to strategic marketing decision.
Crafting Organisational Strategy
The module aims to enable students to analyse strategic issues facing a variety of different organisations using appropriate concepts, frameworks and models in order to inform strategic decision making.
The Global Economic Environment
This module introduces students to fundamental concepts in economics, in order to develop an economic perspective on business decision making in a wide range of contexts and applications.
Designing and Managing Operations, Systems & Processes
The module aims to provide an understanding of the role of operations management and how it contributes to business competitiveness.
Leading Complex Organisations
The module aims to introduce theoretical and real world perspectives on leading modern complex organisations, including consideration of the complexity of behaviour, processes, systems and cultures.
MBA Curriculum - Pathways
You can choose to follow one of four available pathways, or you can select one module from each of Block 1 and Block 2.
Global Business
Develop a systematic understanding of the fundamental aspects of the global business environment that influence business decisions and behaviour.
- Explore the opportunities and challenges involved in the operation of multinational enterprises.
- Assess the economic, political, social and cultural influences on the operation of multinational enterprises.
- Evaluate the entry and organisational strategies of multinational enterprises using key theories from international business studies.
