Introduction
Masters in Computer Science
A degree in computer science will launch you into a field of theoretical expertise and innovation where you will address complex problems and participate in the creation or application of new technologies. Employment of computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 12 percent from now until 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. There is an expected significant increase in the job market for people with skills in cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security. The UIS computer science program will prepare you for a new career or advance in your current one.
Our programs will provide students with a strong foundation in the areas they plan to concentrate:
Our Masters in Computer Science Program is oriented toward software engineering and is most appropriate for students interested in the design, analysis, and implementation of software programs.
• Students interested in design, implementation, and policy issues related to security and information assurance may want to take advantage of our information systems security courses as program electives.
Please note that Conditional Admittance can be granted if you do not meet all of the academic requirements for full admission. We do not require the GRE. Applicants requiring an F-1 hosted by UIS must have completed a course in data structures and algorithms to be considered for admission to the master’s degree program.
Our Data Analytics Program is aimed at providing an interdisciplinary approach to data analytics that covers both the foundational mathematical knowledge of data science and the computational methods and tools for preprocessing, interpreting, analyzing, representing and visualizing data sets.
•Organizations in business and government are eager to leverage data to improve their productivity, allocate resources, minimize risk, increase transparency, gain new insights, and maintain their competitive advantage.
Applicants to the online degree are accepted each fall semester. The Data Analytics program may, at its discretion, accept new students in other semesters. All applicants must provide written evidence of their ability to perform at a high academic level by submitting a personal and academic statement.
