Introduction
Carlow University’s hybrid Master of Social Work is designed for working professionals who want to advance their careers and lead as highly capable social work professionals in their chosen advanced specialties. The program offers a flexible hybrid format with courses offered online along with synchronous components designed to accommodate students’ work life.
Students graduate from the program prepared to fill various in-demand roles that make a difference. The MSW degree at Carlow allows students to choose from one of two tracks: Macro Practice or Direct Practice. Through the trauma-focused curriculum, students prepare to be highly capable and compassionate social work professionals. Field placement and seminars give learners hands-on experience in addition to the knowledge base gained from expert instructors. Students are encouraged to conduct collaborative research projects with faculty or assist with research projects outside of class. In the final semester, students benefit from LSW exam preparation.
An advanced stranding track for students with a BSW makes it possible to graduate in as few as 18 months. A traditional track is available for students who don't have the BSW but wish to pursue graduate study in social work. Faculty interact one-on-one with students to tailor their field placement experiences and research to professional goals. Upon graduation, learners are prepared to sit for licensure.
