Introduction
In this rapidly changing technological world, a graduate engineering degree is often required to hold professional positions in the industry, and in federal, state and municipal government agencies. ODU's online environmental engineering program is designed to give you the in-depth knowledge you need to take the next step in your career. Learn from experienced ODU engineering faculty with a wide variety of specialties and research interests.
Project research can be completed at main campus using state-of-the-art facilities, or on-site at your current employment location. Your research will be facilitated through close interaction with a research faculty advisor. Written, oral and visual communication (web conferencing) make the research process comparable with students on main campus.
Required courses
The Master of Science degree requires twenty-four credit hours of graduate courses and six hours of thesis credit, including a final oral exam. The oral exam can be completed via web conferencing. The Master of Engineering degree has two options: Project or Course. The Project option requires twenty-seven credit hours of graduate course work plus a three-credit-hour project. The Course option requires thirty credit hours of graduate coursework and a written final comprehensive exam covering the entire program of study.
Online Learning Environment
Access course materials online from any location. Some classes will have live, regular online meeting times, while others will not. The instructor may schedule assignments and exams at specific times. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.
