Introduction
Our PCiBS English teacher will teach you English in our live online Learning Management System (LMS) while studying at PCiBS. If you use our English teacher, no TOEFL / IELTS or equivalent scores are needed. English enrollment is required at the same time.
The PCiBS Center offers a one-of-a-kind intensive language program with programs that are designed to complement one another and give in-depth English language teaching. The seven-week-long modules of the intense program enable students to gain the language abilities necessary for academic environments, as determined by standardized tests such as the TOEFL.
Each seven-week module will consist of separate courses for all full-time students. All students in grades 1 through 7 take the core subjects (reading, writing, listening, grammar, and speaking). Students in grades 8 through 10 may substitute a transition course for one of the core courses. Students in Levels 8-10 have the option of adding an IELTS or TOEFL test preparation course to their class schedule. Any PCiBS students do not require any IELTS or TOEFL scores.
Initial placement is determined solely by test scores. Students will automatically progress to the next level if they get passing grades; students with exceptional exam results at the conclusion of a seven-week module may skip one or more levels. After each seven-week module, all students take a placement test and an accomplishment test to determine their progress.
All the English Core Skills courses are taught at 10 different proficiency levels. At each level, students will improve their proficiency through a host of communicative activities, including TOEFL-style forms of practice. The levels correspond to the following designations:
- Level 1 Stretch: Beginner
- Level 1: Beginner
- Level 2: Beginner
- Level 3: Pre Intermediate
- Level 4: Pre Intermediate
- Level 5: Intermediate
- Level 6: Intermediate
- Level 7: High Intermediate
- Level 8: High Intermediate
- Level 9: Advanced
- Level 10: Advanced
