For over 400 years, the commitment to provide a superior education has seen Trinity College Dublin gain a well-deserved reputation as one of the world’s best universities, and as Ireland's top university.
In 2014, Trinity College’s first online course, the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies, was launched, and these 37 students graduated in the autumn of 2015. Trinity College also successfully launched its first free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) that year, which remembered Irish Lives in War and Revolution and had over 12,000 students take part. Since then, over 46,000 learners across the globe have been part of postgraduate and free online education at Trinity College Dublin.
Trinity's online students study courses that have been created by Trinity’s world-class academics and enhanced by online learning specialists. All videos, enhanced interactive presentations, and documents are accessible through Trinity College’s Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard Learn. Throughout each online course, students collaborate with one another and with academics to create an engaging and vibrant online community of learners.
Discussions and interactions with academics are not limited to emails, and students attend weekly virtual tutorials where they can interact with their class in real-time. Using a webcam and headset, each student can see, hear, and talk to academics and other students.
